Who Are The Mannamong?

The mannamong are mythical spirits created by Mother Nature to guide and protect humanity. They were known as a legend throughout the world, something passed down through generations as a folklore tale. But they become real to one little girl in an unexpected way. Believing in the bedtime stories about the mannamong from her mother, Kali’s world is turned upside down when she learns one has been possessing her after running away from his prison. Kali struggles to convince her mother they are real.

The Setting

The Earth we are familiar with is not real but a fictitious place with a unique setting different from ours. Kali’s hometown and culture draw inspiration from modern Western life and Native American cultures but are not based on any real-life groups.

Most mannamong beings reside in the spiritual realm, hiding themselves from the mortal realm. From a distance in a separate dimension, they observe humanity. Humans can only interact with the spiritual realm through their dreams, where they exist momentarily in an astral form until they awake. Only those with heightened spiritual awareness, like Kali, will remember the events they witness with clarity and have control of their movements within that realm. The mannamong can travel between the two realms using gateways that only they can open.

Mythical beings created by Mother Nature to guide and protect our broken world — are flawed. Can one girl be the change-maker?

According to legend, Mother Nature gifted humanity with manna, which rained from the earth daily. A single bite was enough to cure the sick and bestow immense wisdom. However, when the supply of manna became scarce, humans fought wars over the remaining amounts, causing widespread destruction to the planet and humanity. Mother Nature then created mannamong, spirits whose role was to guide humans and restore balance to nature. It has been centuries since anyone has reported seeing a mannamong, leading many to believe that they are nothing more than fairy tales.

Kali Teal is one little girl who has heard of the mannamong through her mother’s bedtime stories, finding comfort in them as she wrestles with a severe illness. Only to discover they do exist when they cure her in a dream. Revealing a rogue mannamong, Tontorus is the cause of her intense fevers! When Kali wakes up, she is unsure if it is just a dream until Tontorus appears in her bedroom, threatening to take her hostage. This left her to wonder if the mannamong are supposed to help humans and why this one was haunting her.

What does Tontorus want? How will Kali deal with this menacing spirit?

As Kali becomes more anxious and angry, she slowly transforms into a mannamong spirit, endangering her humanity and risks disappearing forever. On top of that, mannamong hunters chase Kali, looking to capture Tontorus, adding to her stress.
